10 Morning Habits to Kick Start Your Day

Health and fitness expert Clare Stobart looks at the 21/90 rule to make a permanent change in habit, which will improve your overall wellbeing and ensure you stay healthy this summer and beyond

We all have such busy lifestyles but implementing the following 10 habits into your morning routine for the next 21 days, will have such a positive impact on your wellness and fitness journey. After 90 days, these will become habit, just try it.

Wake Up Early

You will find that most successful people wake up early, allowing time to heighten their focus on the things that really matter to them. Robin Sharma author of the 5am Club, states β€œown your morning, elevate your life”. By waking up early, you’ll have lots of time to spend purely focussed on yourself and your wellbeing, rather than feeling like you are rushing out of the door.


Hydrate and Detox

Drink a full glass of lukewarm water with a slice of lemon. Followed by a shot of apple cider vinegar to really support weight loss, stimulate metabolism and aid digestion by removing toxins from your system. Meditate

Morning meditation lowers stress levels, allows you to connect better and improves your focus. Meditating is so powerful as it also releases endorphins. Endorphins are great for improving your emotional wellbeing and are natural energy boosters. I recommend downloading the Headspace app. 


Take Note

Write down 3 things that you feel grateful for and say them out loud. Remind yourself throughout your day of your intentions to help to put small setbacks into perspective. Doing this will help you to prioritise what is most important in your life and to learn to easily let go of negative emotions.   

Recite

Positive affirmations are statements which can help you to overcome self-doubt and self-sabotage. Affirmations can even allow you to intentionally direct how your day will unfold. Optimism is a very powerful thing.  

Move

Do 50 squats every morning for the month. Why? You are most efficient first thing in the morning, and it will shock your body into a fat burning state before you even leave the house.

Freshen Up

A cold shower will aid blood circulation, alertness, boost your mood and even stimulate weight loss. And it is another source of endorphins to set you up for your day.

Fuel your Body

We all know that a healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating something wholesome and full of protein helps you to be mindful of your diet. You will experience fewer hunger pangs and less of a desire to snack between meals.
