This month, we're loving wellness retreats, African adventures and quite literally pushing the boat out, with tailor made travel.
AN AFRICAN ADVENTURE
Conservation company, Singita is delighted to announce the launch of Singita Kwitonda Lodge in late 2019 on the edge of Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
The presence of Singita Kwitonda Lodge on the park border will help to create a natural space between agricultural plots and the habitat of the estimated 320 mountain gorillas that find sanctuary here. The opening of the new property puts gorilla trekking within easy reach and in combination with a classic safari at Singita’s private concessions on the Serengeti plains in Tanzania. Besides gorillas, there is much to see and explore, from the Afro montane forests of Nyungwe National Park to the vibrant and sophisticated capital city, Kigali.
Singita Kwitonda will offer 8 suites and a villa with magnificent views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes. Sustainability is at the core of the construction project, as architects and interior designers select locally sourced and produced materials for walling, ceilings and surface finishing.
Rates for suites at Singita Kwitonda Lodge start from US$1,500 - $1,750 per person per night on a fully inclusive basis, excluding gorilla trekking permits (US$1,500 per person for a one-day, one-hour permit). RwandAir now flies direct, twice weekly, between London Gatwick and Kigali
MANCHESTER AIRPORT RETAINS ITS CROWN AS BEST UK AIRPORT
Manchester Airport is flying high after being named the UK’s best airport, for a fourth year running, at the Globe Awards hosted by Travel Weekly.
The award comes after a magnificent 2017 for Manchester Airport, now the third largest in the UK, which smashed an all-time passenger record, as 27.8m people passed through the airport last year. Last year, Manchester Airport also announced and launched a number of new routes including San Francisco, Muscat and Seattle.
Voted for by travel agents, representatives from Manchester Airport picked up the award from comedian Harry Hill, at a glittering award ceremony at Grosvenor House in London.
