A fresh taste of luxury is unveiled at 13/59 restaurant in Barbados.

In response to popular demand, a new chef-driven dining concept has opened at 13/59 restaurant at Port Ferdinand Marina and Luxury Residences in Barbados, led by new Chef Eric Drogueux, alongside Maitre’D Edouard Boutin.

13/59 is located in the heart of the marina at Port Ferdinand, an exclusive collection of 46 luxury homes, and now offers an urban craft style restaurant, with a touch of old world charm.  It promises to be a top foodie destination on the north west coast of Barbados.

‚ÄčEach of the propertes at Port Ferdinand feature private yacht berth, combined with rich amenities and legendary Bajan service in a unique marina setting.

Guests staying at Port Ferdinand can also take advantage of amenities including a watersports centre, spa and fitness centre, as well as taking advantage of facilities at sister resort, Saint Peter’s Bay Luxury Resort and Residences, just 6 minutes away by road or sea.  This can be accessed using the free UNNA water taxi.

Enticing New Menu

Eric Drogueux was previously head chef at Restaurant Farniente & Lagoon by Jean Georges, in the prestigious St Regis Bora Bora Resort in French Polynesia. He has also worked in the kitchen of Eric Frechon, 3 Michelin starred Chef and Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and also at the Domaine de Murtoli in Corsica, as Sous Chef for the Michelin starred Chef, Laurent Renard.

The new menu has a strong French influence mixed with Mediterranean selections and hints of Asia, reflecting Eric’s experiences and training in Europe and Polynesia. A signature dish is scallops & prawns: spiny lobster bisque, with wild rice arancini. The kitchen is a series of work centres, with bread and pastry made in the morning, the ovens fired up to high heat throughout the night service, then cooled down to braise and slow roast meats overnight for the next day’s service.

A lot of time has been taken to grow, research, and procure the ingredients used at 13/59, supporting local farmers and independent fishermen, bringing diners tasty and beautiful dishes of the highest quality.

Fresh New Look

Following the launch of 13/59 two years ago and feedback from guests, the restaurant has been updated to present a more informal and welcoming interior, featuring earthy tones and red restaurant chairs.  The popular booth seats with pending lighting have been maintained for their warm and relaxed ambience. Guests can also choose to reserve an outdoor dockside table, just feet from the water of Port Ferdinand marina. The outside lounge area has also been revamped and is the perfect place for a sundowner during Happy Hour, or for after dinner liqueurs or coffees.

Commenting on the re-launch of 13/59, Bernard Sarme, Group General Manager for Port Ferdinand and Saint Peter’s Bay, comments:

‘Since launching 13/59 as a fine dining restaurant two years ago we’ve found that Sunday brunch has been incredibly popular with our guests, who love the informal atmosphere and café style menu, so we decided to revamp the brand, the environment and menu, to mirror this successful formula.  We’re delighted to have a chef of Eric’s calibre to make our vision a reality.’

13/59 is open to both Port Ferdinand residents and non residents and includes a private dining room for up to 12 people.  It is open from Tuesday to Saturday offering breakfast from 7-10.00am and dinner from 5.30-10.00pm.  On Sundays Brunch is offered from 11:00am-3:30pm.
